Artist, healer and educator Jovita Wallace works with acrylic and oil paint, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, wood, and natural found objects. Her art currently reflects over 20 years of study and practice in vibrational medicine and the modern shamanic realm, creating impressions and tools for interactive experiences. In her creative process she connects with spirit to provide a framework and sense of continuity to ensure that balance is kept between the seen and unseen worlds.
Her work has evolved through many stages throughout her art career, from realism to conceptual and abstract. She is currently exploring the limitless potential and possibilities of color illumination and shamanic investigation.
Wallace’s interest in art originated in early childhood while growing up near Lake Michigan. She has lived in Los Angeles, California, Chicago, Illinois, and northern New Jersey/New York Metropolitan area. She studied fine art at Indiana University and California Institute of the Arts and design at the Ray Vogue School of Fashion, Chicago, Illinois. She was the recipient of the Charles Small Scholarship Award while attending Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, Newark, New Jersey. After completing a three-year associate degree in advertising and fashion illustration, she founded JDA Associates, a full-service advertising agency in Montclair, New Jersey. For the next ten years Wallace directed and managed JDA Associates which offered marketing and advertising for nationally-based clients, including Best Foods CPC International, Brother International Corporation, Rollei Fototechnic/Division of Samsung Opto-Electronics, Sharp Electronics Corporation, Schick Shaving Products Group/Warner Lambert Co., R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Prime Hospitality Corporation for AmeraSuites and Wellesley Inn & Suites, and others.
Jovita Wallace is the Founder and Director of Being In Balance, Inc. Sound Wellness, Center for Color Illumination and Pure Tone Therapy. Being In Balance Inc. was founded in July 2001, Montclair, New Jersey and is currently located in Ajo, Arizona. Wallace’s television releases include interviews on Fox TV, “Good Day New York,” Channel 11 New York Network News, and cable TV “Alternatives”. Her press and media coverage includes featured articles in newspapers and magazines: The New York Daily News, The New Jersey Star Ledger, Self magazine, Spa magazine, First for Women magazine, Salon Today, Interior Design magazine, and numerous other publications. Her color illumination work is permanently installed at Maximus SoHo Spa, New York, New York. Her clients, Richard Calcasola, a regular guest on the Maury Povich TV Show and Jim Morrison, President of Loreal Paris USA Cosmetics, were awarded the international grand prize of “Salon of the Year”.
Wallace was a guest speaker at the Medical Spa Expo and Conference, Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York, New York, sponsored by The Medical Spa Society and Reed Exhibits. She has taught and lectured at the University of Aesthetics and Wellness, DePasquale The Spa, Morris Plains, New Jersey and the Pantone Color Institute, New York and New Jersey.
Holistic and medical professionals have received certification in vibrational medicine through her program, “Chakras and The Five Senses, Vibrational Medicine and the Quantum Body”. Energy Healers have earned Sound Therapy Practitioner Certification through intensive study in her programs. She also offers courses in Color Vibration and training in her Shamanic Mentorship Program.
Wallace’s past positions include ten years as Managing Editor of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chicago, Illinois; President of the Glen Ridge Art Patrons Association, Glen Ridge, New Jersey; Vice President of Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art; and Public Relations Director, The Korby Gallery, Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Her teaching experience includes courses in fine art, art history, advertising, and portfolio and resume preparation within the Department of Visual Communications, Gibbs College, Montclair, New Jersey and Montclair Kimberly Academy, Montclair, New Jersey.
